In today’s world, many people say things just to gain the approval of others, to win a vote, or get a sale from you. In 2014 with a never been done before gesture, God Over Money founder and artist, Bizzle, announced that he would donate 100% of the proceeds of his album Well Wishes to the building of fresh water sources in Mozambiqe, Africa. At the time, not only did this sound like an awesome thing to do because no Christian rapper has EVER done something like this, it also crossed my mind whether or not he would keep his promise. Not that I didn’t think he was an honorable man, but just because I’ve just seen so many “honorable men” make promises that they didn’t keep.
Today Bizzle announced today that in addition to a $5,000 donation earlier this year, he has written another check for the sum of $40,000 to complete the construction of fresh water wells in Mozambique, Africa. This is not only honorable in terms of a man honoring a promise, it is also a tremendous step of faith and act of true ministry from the man of God Mark Julian Felder aka Bizzle and his family.
Make no mistake about it, the money that Bizzle donated was not just some extra money that he had laying around. This was literally money that Bizzle, a full-time artist, and his family would have normally used to pay bills, put food on the table, and run the day to day operations of the God Over Money record label. This was a team effort, so for that reason we salute Bizzle and his wife, along with God Over Money team for making the financial sacrifice to do true ministry in a place where they personally will never reap a physical benefit. Bizzle mentioned in his post that there was a time during the collection of the money that his family only had “$60 in their bank account because the album proceeds were going to completely separate account.”
Everything that Bizzle stands for “God Over Money” was on the line with the decision to obey or not to obey. Whenever you make a stance like that before the world, God is going to test you before the world. I’m not God, but from my view, I would say that Bizzle passed the test. Our prayers to clothe and feed the needy are certainly needed, however even better is to actually clothe and feed the needy. The Word of God says it this way:
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. -Matthew 25:25 NIV
Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done. -Proverbs 19:17 ESV
The Lord gives seed to the sower (2 Cor. 9:7), meaning He puts more in the hand of the person who He knows will not hold on to it but puts it in a place where it can multiply than He does someone who keeps everything for himself. If the Word of God is true, and it is, you can expect to see a harvest of blessing and increase come to the Julian household and the God Over Money camp in the near future. To Bizzle I say, God bless you bro because I don’t know that I personally could have done what you did!
